Frank Dangler - Founder Dangler Stove Company

Frank Barker Dangler was born on June 23, 1888, the son of David Edward and Effie Maud Dangler. He was educated in the Sibley Public and the University School in Asheville, North Carolina. He went on to graduate from the Sheffield Scientific School at Yale University.

Following college, he married Gladys Cottingham. She was born in 1890 to Walter and Gertrude Cottingham who lived at 9717 Lake Shore Boulevard.

Frank's father, D. Edward Dangler, founded the Dangler Stove Company that merged in 1902 with eight other companies to become the American Stove Company. In 1929 they produced the revolutionary "Magic Chef" brand. In 1931 the company became the Hotpoint Division of the General Electric Company.

Dangler was a member of the Delta Phi fraternity plus The Country and Kirtland Country Clubs. He died on October 12, 1942. Gladys died on January 18, 1967. Both are buried in Lake View Cemetery.
