Donald Cameron - Chief of Medicine Lake County Hospital

Dr. Donald Cameron was the former chief of medicine at Lake County Hospital (Lake Health).  He was an internist in private practice from 1948 to 1984 with admitting privileges at University Hospitals. He was also an assistant clinical professor emeritus of medicine at Case Western Reserve University.

Donald Bruce Cameron “Bert”, was born on March 29, 1914, in Uhrichsville, Ohio.

Bert married Francis Ann Guy. She was born on December 4, 1926, in Bradford, Pennsylvania. They had twelve children: Donald Bruce Jr. born on February 26, 1949, Robert Bruce was born on April 1, 1950, James Peter born on February 23, 1951, J. Jeffery, D. Kevin, Ian M., A. Guy, Duncan F., Elizabeth Ann, (Eckstein), Ann O. (Martin), and S. Katherine (Zito). and Mary Marguerite “Meg”, born on April 23, 1958. Donald, Robert, James, and Meg attended the Bratenahl School.

Bert was a major in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the 24th Division, 34th Regiment and Battalion Surgeon in the South Pacific.

Dr. Cameron was a member of the American Medical Association and the Stephens Ministry at Forest Hill Church. He was also a member of the Cuyahoga County Board of Health and University Circle Chorale.

Bert died on March 7, 2002. Ann died on March 13, 2012, in Salem, Massachusetts following a brief illness. Both are buried in Strongsville Cemetery, Strongsville, Ohio.
