Ground Broken for E. R. Squibb's Bratenahl Office
Bratenahl's Mayor R. Henry Norweb Jr., drove a bulldozer yesterday at ground-breaking ceremonies for a new building to house the local distributing branch of E. R. Squibb & Sons, a division of Olin Mathieson Chemical Corp., at 12655 Coit Road.
Helping him was James Dillon of New York, manager of Squibb branch operations.
The one-story brick and aluminum structure will provide 40,000 square feet of office and warehouse space. It is expected to be ready by January 1, 1957,
The Cleveland branch, opened nearly 30 years ago, services medical and pharmaceutical professions in Ohio, eastern Michigan, West Virginia, and western Pennsylvania.
The Squibb building, to be constructed by the Gillmore-Olson Co., is the first to be developed in the area by Marx Realty & Improvement Co. of New York, which controls approximately 3,000 feet of property on the Lake Shore Freeway. Other developments will include buildings for research, warehouse and office space for various business firms.
