Memories of Bratenahl in the 1950s

Recollections of Raymond Glew

Raymond Robert Glew, 8th Grade Class of 1958

Memory: We received the finest public-school education. It is a shame it had to end. We succeeded as adults because of the teachers' excellence, the level of expectation by the teachers, and the support of our parents.

Taking the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th graders to Red Raider Camp for a week, Bratenahl School's initiation into outdoor education. In 1956 several of us chose to go to downtown Cleveland to hear Dwight Eisenhower speak after being told not to go. We arrived back after 1:00 p.m. Miss Mounts was very unhappy with our disobedience.

[Raymond Robert Glew was born on June 18, 1944, to Raymond and Elizabeth Glew.   His father was a purchasing agent.  While attending the Bratenahl School, Raymond lived at 10104 Burton Avenue.   Raymond attended the Bratenahl School from kindergarten to 8th Grade, graduating with the Class of 1958.]
