Sixty-two townhouses were initially scheduled to be built on the former Louis Grossman estate at Bratenahl Road and Lake Shore Boulevard.

Bratenahl Development Corporation’s townhouse project, designed by Cleveland architect John Terrence Kelly, was conceived as two brick-and-glass complexes, each centered around a “piazza” adorned with fountains and trees, for the 10-acre site of the Louis Grossman estate. An L-shaped building at the corner of Bratenahl Road and Lake Shore Boulevard would be built first with eight units to serve as model homes. The second phase would contain forty-eight townhomes stretching along Lake Shore Boulevard to Corning drive.

The eight Bratenahl Court townhouses were completed in the summer of 1967. The two daily Cleveland newspapers hailed the achievement for having brought a “new flavor of sophistication to the Cleveland scene.”
