He was educated in public schools, University School and graduated from Yale University Sheffield Science School in 1911.<\/p>\n<p>Ken was a member of Troop A, 1st Cleveland Cavalry from 1912 to 1915. He was a captain in the U.S. Army Ordnance Department from October 1917 to January 1919.<\/p>\n<p>Ken married Joyce Cottingham on November 18, 1913. Joyce was born to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/bratenahlhistorical.org\/index.php\/walter-cottingham\/\">Walter and Gertrude Cottingham<\/a><\/strong> on May 17, 1891, in Montreal, Canada. They had two sons: Walter Cottingham born on June 1, 1915, and Kenneth Leland Jr. born on July 29, 1918.<\/p>\n<p>Ken was a member of The Country and Kirtland Country clubs. He died on February 6, 1961, in Delray Beach, Florida. Joyce died on August 31, 1972.
