As she stepped from the curb to cross Ontario Street at St. Clair Avenue, she was hit by a bus and suffered crushing injuries. She was later pronounced dead at St. Vincent Charity Hospital and Health Center.<\/p>\n<p>Police accident investigators said a controller directing rush-hour traffic waved the westbound Cleveland Southeastern Trails bus to turn left into Ontario Street&#8217;s southbound lanes. There was no oncoming traffic from the west. The bus driver told police he felt a bump halfway through the turn. He stopped the bus to check and found Bien under the bus near the left rear wheels. No charges were filed against the bus driver.<\/p>\n<p>Nancy and her husband, Robert, had just purchased their Bratenahl home a year earlier on July 17, 1990.<\/p>\n<p>Nancy was a native of New York City and had worked in public relations in San Francisco and elsewhere.
