As with Melcote, the property had a sloping, sodded bank to a beautiful beach. Irelands built a sprawling Queen Anne country home completed in 1898.<\/p>\n<p>Loosely based on designs derived from the era of Queen Anne\u2019s reign, this highly decorative residential motif, clapboard, tile, or brick background made it unique. Additional highlights included prominent front pavilions and bays, wrap-around porches, conical towers and turrets, gabled roofs, fluted columns, angled bays, oriel windows, and stained-glass windows.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kate Hanna Harvey<\/strong> received the title to the home on March 14, 1923. Her social secretary was responsible for a payroll of one hundred and thirty people.<\/p>\n\t<p>Kate&#8217;s son R. Livingston Ireland Jr. and daughter Elizabeth inherited the property on December 30, 1941. Elizabeth then passed the property on to her brother on April 10, 1942.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/bratenahlhistorical.org\/index.php\/gertrude-britton\/\">Brigham and Gertrude Britton<\/a><\/strong> acquired Gertrude\u2019s late aunt Kate Harvey\u2019s estate from Kate\u2019s son on May 2, 1946.
