The company became Bourne-Fuller &amp; Co. after the death of Paul P. Condit in 1886.<\/p>\n<p>Horace began in the accounting department moving later to the sales department and promoted to be in charge of the financial end of the concern. About 1885, he became treasurer of the Union Rolling Mill Co., a steel manufacturer, of which his father was general manager. In 1888, he became an assistant secretary and then general manager and treasurer upon the death of his father in 1891 and president and general manager in 1911.<\/p>\n<p>The two companies were brought together as Bourne-Fuller Company in January 1912. Horace was elected president in 1914, a position he held until his death in 1924.<\/p>\n<p>Bourne-Fuller consisted of three entities: first was Bourne-Fuller Company, the sales agency for iron and steel jobber that sold the output of its furnaces to its customers. The other two entities consisted of the Union Rolling Mill, a manufacturer of steel, and the Upson Nut Company, a manufacturer of nuts and bolts.<\/p>\n\t<p>These three companies were the largest independent steel companies in Ohio.&nbsp;The operations included the entire process of steel manufacture extending from the making of pig iron to the manufacture of finished products.<\/p>\n<p>The Bourne-Fuller Company was one of three constituent companies that formed the Republic Steel Corporation in 1930. The principal stockholder of the Republic Steel was Cyrus Eaton.<\/p>\n<p>Horace Arthur Fuller was born on September 23, 1864, to Samuel Augustus and Julia Clark Fuller. He was educated in the Cleveland Public Schools. Leaving high school at age sixteen he attended one year at Hudson College in Hudson, Ohio, a preparatory school, and then spent a year at Western Reserve University.<\/p>\n<p>Horace married Alice Tenney Ingersoll on April 14, 1886, in Brooklyn, New York. She was born on April 26, 1864. They had two daughters, Antoinette (Pierrong) and Marian (Ryan).<\/p>\n<p>Fuller was a director of Central National Bank, American Box Co., and director of Sheriff Street Market and Storage Company. He was also a member of the Bratenahl School Board.<\/p>\n<p>He was a Republican and belonged to the Euclid Avenue Presbyterian Church. Social memberships included The Country, Mayfield Country, Tavern, and Union clubs. Also included were the Delta Kappa Epsilon Club of New York City, Forest and Stream Club of Wilmington, Vermont, and the Midwick Country Club of Pasadena, California.<\/p>\n<p>Horace died on February 28, 1924. Alice died on October 15, 1952.
